Apparently it is time for the San Juan County Fair. While I have not been to the Fair here in the islands, I have been told that it is a interesting experience! The Visual Arts Museum in Friday Harbor will be having a booth at the Fair and they asked me to loan them a few pieces of work to promote the lecture I will be doing in November entitled Consciousness, Spirituality, and Intellect: Creating Dialogue through Art.

While at the library recently, I picked up a copy of a slim book entitled, A Place In The Islands. (which you can download as a pdf for free at the link below) This is an interesting read on the preservation of the "Islands of the Salish Sea," which included both Canadian and US lands. The book (which is kind of like an over sized brochure) focuses on the premise that most of the islands lands are privately owned and that private ownership has and will have significant impact on the overall ecology. It offers many suggestions and ideas on how individuals can collectively contribute to the overall sustainability and beauty of the Island of the Salish Sea. Check it out!
