My work will be included in the Symbiose Summer Art Festival Breda, The Netherlands 

App's Boat is on display @  NE 45th and 7th Ave (in the U District across I-5 from Wallingford) in Seattle Washington. 
The picture is part of the City Panorama Project sponsored by King County Metro, 4 Culture, and Photographic Center Northwest, among others. 

FotoFest Envisions a New Theme for 2012

Thank you for submitting your work for consideration for FOTOFEST 2012, the Fourteenth International Biennial Month of Photography and Photo-Related Arts.

FotoFest will be publically announcing the Biennial theme and dates this week. As you know the FotoFest 2012 theme would focus on how artists are conceiving and depicting the future of life and human existence on the earth. Given the scale of this particular project we have found it is necessary to have more time to plan this concept and we have to move it to 2014.  We want to let you to be one of the first to know the new.

We would like to hold your submission for consideration for 2014 Biennial. We hope the change of focus will not cause you any difficulties or inconvenience. 

For the 2012 Biennial, FotoFest’s  focus will be Russia and FotoFest’s own exhibitions will focus on Contemporary Russian Photography - Post-war Avant-garde to the Present.  This will be work by Russian photographers working in Russia.

We will be accepting submissions on behalf of For Participating Spaces FotoFest shows submissions on a special website to Participating Spaces possible exhibition by them during the Biennial. These works can be about Contemporary Russia by artists of any nationality or work unrelated to FotoFest’s Russian Theme. Let me know if you would like to have your submission considered under the new focus or if you would like us to hold it for the 2014 focus.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, April 1, 2011.

Dennis DeHart, Fine Art Photography exhibition at Christina's 

August 6-September 9, 2009

Opening Reception, Thursday August 6, from 5-7, Wine and Appetizers will be served 

Orcas Island photographer Dennis DeHart will be exhibiting his fine art 

photography, which includes new work from the series "Land of the Stratus."

DeHart's recent photographs include large format panoramic images that Diane Edkins, a curator at the

Aperture gallery in New York City describes as " A classical approach to the western landscape and space, 

which is both dissident and disturbing while functioning aesthetically and provocatively." 

DeHart will also be showing a selection of color prints that he created in the attic of his apartment while living in Buffalo, NY. 

A Northwest native, DeHart and his family returned to the NW last year from New York. Dennis and his wife Jesica are currently involved in building a house on the island. They also own and operate Stratus Studio, which is a work for hire/commerical photographic business based on Orcas.

Q: What do these photos say about what's happened to the gorge area?

A: It makes you look at the consequences of our decisions. The world has an awful lot of people living in it. We are at a point where we have to think about how we deal with our resources because it's conceivable that we could run out of air (laughs). That doesn't work real well. At some point, you know, what's good for all of us is what we all need to participate in. At the same time, the lights are on in this room because of the Bonneville Dam. So how do we look at those effects, and what do we use to gauge the quality of our judgments?

My piece "Stone Circle" will be included in the "Only in Washington" exhibition at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle from October 1-March 31.

Turtleback Mountain Preserve on Orcas Island was established as a public recreational resource through the partnership of the Community Land Bank, Preservation Trust, and Trust Public Land. The preserve is an invaluable resource that includes, among other wonderful features, views of the Canadian Gulf Islands.

On another note, long time Seattle resident and Buffalo friend Mark Mcloughlin (who grew up near the Ballard locks and among many adventures including living in Japan and NYC, being Parkers dad, and working for many year with the Video Artist Gary Hill, has work up in the Brooklyn Museum.
