the tortured journal entry of a burned-out rocker

Here is brief blurb today from the Buffalo News Gusto section, for my upcoming show at Studio Hart.

Dennis DeHart’s artist statement reads like the tortured journal entry of a burned-out rocker, someone questioning his place or relevance in the world. “Is home a mental state or a physical place?” he asks. “Are we destined to be in a perpetual wanderlust physically? Mentally? And if so, what does this mean?” But DeHart, far from a touring musician or wandering vagrant, is in fact a professor of photography at Buffalo State College. In an exhibition of his new work opening Tuesday in Studio Hart (65 Allen St.), he ponders the question that most of us ask at one time or another in our lives: Where, if such a place actually exists, is home? DeHart’s photographs in the show are dedicated to one of his loved ones who recently passed away. They contain naturalistic and tactile objects laden with memories.
