Art in America this month has an article on the work of Maya Lin. I was excited to learn about the Confluence project, which commemorates the bicentennial of the journey of the Lewis and Clark Expedition of 1804-06. The project includes "a series of seven art installations along the Columbia River basin created to evoke the history of the Lewis and Clark Expedition and the tremendous changes it brought to the Pacific Northwest."
http://www.confluenceproject.org/Not only does the project sound amazing, but it also takes place in the area where I grew up. I am looking forward to visiting the seven sites in the coming years.
