HDR Test

During my photo excursion in central Buffalo, I did an HDR test. Essentially I placed the camera on a tripod and bracketed for a total of 6 photos. Then I imported them into Photoshop (CS2 or above) and the software composited the image in 32 bit. After some finagling with the opacity and the like, I made this image with a lower end Nikon DSLR. (You can read more about how to do HDR in an article by Dan Burkholder on the Texas Photographic Society website) The benefits are obvious. In this scene, the shadows on the upper left are about 6 stops darker then the highlights in the hole in the roof on the right. Using the HDR workflow allowed me to gather much more information then was possible with a single image. Neat!
